Maryland Deck Builders has been family-owned since 1999. In a trade where most companies grow until the owner is a name on a truck, Nelson is still the one who comes out, walks the yard, works up the design with you — and then goes and files the paperwork.

Do I need a permit for a deck in Maryland?

Almost always, yes — a deck is a permitted structure, and many neighborhoods also require HOA architectural approval before work can start. We handle the drawings and the paperwork with your HOA and your county as part of the project, which is the part most homeowners dread.

Yes. Deck restoration and resurfacing is one of our services — often the right answer when the frame is sound but the surface and railings have aged out.
